In August 2026, 22 students, primarily from leading European high schools travelled to Singapore to participate in the HSG Summer School Asia 2026, a two-week immersive programme exploring entrepreneurship, innovation, and strategic thinking within one of Asia’s most dynamic business environments. Organized by the St.Gallen Institute of Management in Asia (SGI-HSG) and led by Professor Dr. Matthias Tietz, the programme brought together academic learning, corporate exposure, and unique cultural experiences.
The academic programme covered key themes including intercultural competence, entrepreneurship, marketing, sustainability, and design thinking. Through interactive lectures, discussions, and project-based learning, students developed practical perspectives on business in Southeast Asia while strengthening their ability to approach complex challenges from a global and an entrepreneurial perspective.
Corporate visits were a central part of the programme, providing students with firsthand exposure to diverse industries and business environments. Visits to UBS, Dell Technologies, NTS, HOPE Technik, Delta, StashAway, and Porsche Asia Pacific offered opportunities to engage with industry leaders and gain insights into leadership, innovation, technology, finance, logistics, and consumer markets. A morning of volunteer service with the Willing Hearts Foundation further enriched the experience, introducing students to the importance of social responsibility and community engagement.
Beyond the classroom and corporate environment, cultural highlights included a dinner in Arab Street, a BBQ at East Coast Park, a Chinese-style family dinner, and a rooftop farewell celebration at Mr. Stork. These shared experiences encouraged connection, reflection, and cultural awareness. Alongside lasting friendships, these takeaways will stay with the participants for a long time to come as they newly joined the alumni network of the summer schools where the same spirit lives on.
