Throughout the week, participants examined the foundations and future of intergeneration-al wealth management — a theme central to Switzerland’s financial industry. With a focus on family businesses and family offices, the programme explored how wealth can be pre-served and governed across generations, especially in the context of small- and medium-sized enterprises that form the backbone of family wealth in Europe. Academic sessions were led by HSG faculty members, including Prof. Dr. Stefan Morkötter, Prof. Dr. Thomas Zellweger, Prof. Dr. Damian Borth, and Prof. Dr. Andrea Barbon. Topics covered Switzer-land’s role as a global financial center, family governance, private equity and venture capi-tal, as well as the growing impact of artificial intelligence and digital assets on wealth man-agement.
A highlight of the study mission was the Practitioners’ Day in Zurich. Participants visited Pictet Bank and engaged with senior executives on current trends in Swiss private banking and asset management. In addition, the group attended an evening networking event hosted by EFG International, where participants had the opportunity to connect with a wide range of professionals, including one of the bank’s founders. Guest lectures throughout the pro-gramme featured senior industry leaders, including Pascal Eberle, Chief of Staff at Sygnum, and Frank Niedermann, Head WM APAC International Clients Switzerland at UBS.
The academic and professional agenda was complemented by a cultural programme that included a guided tour of the University of St.Gallen, a visit to the town of Appenzell, a be-hind-the-scenes experience at the Appenzell cheese factory, and a cable car ride to the summit of Säntis mountain.
