International Conference on Entrepreneurial Ecosystems in Cape Town, SA

The 6th edition of the International Conference on the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem (ICEE 2026) was held from April 22 to 25, 2026, in Cape Town, South Africa, bringing together a diverse range of scholars and ecosystem builders committed to the development of entrepreneurship, innovation, and entrepreneurial support across the world.

Prof. Dr. Matthias A. Tietz was invited as a distinguished international speaker and represented the University of St.Gallen and the St. Gallen Institute of Management in Asia.  Prof. Tietz presented collaborative work with former research associate Dr. Nicolas Gilgen on “How opportunistic behavior shapes ecosystems through its impact on business-to-business data sharing”. He also shared two sessions and moderated the last panel discussion together with the organizing team (depicted above).

A scientific and methodological outreach day organized on April 22 at the University of Cape Town (UCT) created a valuable space for exchanges between researchers, doctoral students, and practitioners on contemporary issues in entrepreneurship research and emerging methodologies. Interestingly, this edition of the conference was fully bilingual, with simultaneous interpretation provided in both French and English throughout the event. The bilingual approach reflects the inclusive spirit of CIEE and ensured full and equitable participation for both French-speaking and English-speaking communities, in a spirit of international collaboration. This warm and positive spirit permeated all four days of the conference, so that participants taking part in presentations, panels, workshops, scientific exchange sessions, and networking activities could productively address major issues related to entrepreneurial support, inclusive entrepreneurship, and the evolution of entrepreneurial ecosystems across different international contexts.
