
The MBF program and the Real Estate Certificate (REC) jointly offer a brand new course in Singapore on the theoretical foundations and practical applications of infrastructure investments and finance (with a specific focus on emerging markets). This course is open to MBF, REC, MACFin, MEcon, and MiQE/F students. Dr. Alois Weigand will be teaching this course between March 30 and April 3, 2026 in Singapore at the St.Gallen Institute of Management in Asia (SGI-HSG).
Course Objective:
Students will gain fundamental insights into infrastructure capital markets, project finance structures, valuation techniques, and risk analysis methodologies for large-scale infrastructure projects. There will be an extensive examination of different investor perspectives and sector-specific investment approaches across energy, transportation, telecommunications, water, and urban development projects, as well as the emerging “real estate infrastructure” asset class. The course also includes a hands-on project finance modeling workshop as well as several visits to infrastructure sites in Singapore. Furthermore, the course explores developments/trends in Asian infrastructure finance, including green finance trends, cross-border investments, and the evolving role of Chinese capital in infrastructure development.
