This course provides students with an opportunity to learn about the management of businesses in Malaysia. As Malaysia moves up the value chain, its businesses face increasing competition from surrounding knowledge-driven and innovation powered economies.
To gain insights into how Malaysia remains competitive regionally and globally, this course will introduce students to Malaysia’s socio-cultural, political, and economic contexts. Specific examples may be drawn from the manufacturing, energy, and agricultural industries, as well other emerging industries, to examine the opportunities and challenges that Malaysia faces. As Malaysia and Singapore are close neighbours, this course will also discuss the many ties between the two countries such as their joint colonial history, geographical proximity, and strong trade and business relations.
