Visit of Swiss parliamentarians On March 28, 2017, the St.Gallen Institute of Management in Asia was excited to welcome the Delegation of the Swiss Council of States, led by Mr Ivo Bischofberger, President of the Council of States, and comprising of Ms Karin Keller-Sutter, First Vice President of the Council of States, Mr Jean-René Fournier, Second Vice President of the Council of States, and Ms Géraldine Savary, Mr Alex Kuprecht, and Mr Robert Cramer, Members of the Council of States. The delegation was accompanied by Swiss Ambassador Thomas Kupfer and Ms Emilija Georgieva, Deputy Head of Mission of the Swiss Embassy. After a welcome and presentation by Prof. Dr. Stefan Morkoetter, Managing Director of the St.Gallen Institute of Management in Asia, on the SGI’s history, research and programmes offered in Singapore, the delegation was treated to a Peranakan lunch hosted by the SGI where they got to sample local delicacies reflecting the rich and diverse culinary heritage of Singapore. Over lunch, the delegation spoke to members of the SGI team as well as HSG students in Singapore to understand more about their experiences living in Singapore. Besides visiting the SGI, the delegation also visited ETH Singapore and met with various members of the Singapore parliament at the Parliament House, including Deputy Speaker Lim Biow Chuan and Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan. The Delegation also met the Swiss community in Singapore during a reception at the Swiss Club, where the Embassy’s postcard booklet was launched.
