1st Singapore Private Equity Research Symposium The St.Gallen Institute of Management in Asia (SGI-HSG), the Institute for Private Capital at the University of North Carolina and the Private Equity Research Consortium hosted together the first Singapore Private Equity Research Symposium in Singapore. On 6 February 2018, generously hosted by Clifford Chance, an international group of more than 50 investment professionals with a keen interesting in private equity convened at the Marina Bay Financial Center for a high-content start into the day. Following welcome notes by Prof. Dr. Stefan Morkoetter and Valerie Kong, Partner at Clifford Chance, Professor Gregory Brown from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill kicked off the session by presenting the latest results of a current research paper on “Comparing Cyclical Strategies for Private Equity Investing”. Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Stefan Morkoetter introduced his findings centered around the value of general partners’ educational credentials for limited partners which is currently being investigated in his paper titled “Should LPs care where GPs went to school?”. The morning session closed with a panel discussion, during which three experienced business leaders shared their views regarding the current state of global markets for private equity and venture capital.
