International Aviation Management Course This year’s International Aviation Management Course, which is part of the Global Aviation Management Certificate Program, took place from 18 to 21 June 2018 in Singapore. The Aviation industry has the highest growth rate in Asia and is a key driver for growth in the Asian and global market. Therefore, a special focus on how to do business in Asia and to experience Asian business is essential for leading professionals in the Aviation Industry. Participants gained an overview of the Asian Aviation business community and discussed market entry strategies. They learnt how to successfully manage a company in a cross-cultural environment and how the economic situation in Malaysia and Singapore can be part of developing a successful strategy for Southeast Asia. Malaysia offers itself as a production location, whereas the rising costs in Singapore rather make it an interesting location for service centers and local headquarters. The course combined daily theory sections with practical insights into operations and service innovation through company visits. The group visited for example companies like Singapore Airlines, Bell Helicopter, Airbus Training Center and Credit Suisse, where participants were provided with new insights into doing business in Singapore and Asia. The St.Gallen Institute of Management in Asia hosted the International Aviation Management Course at the institute’s premises. Members of the institute contributed to the course curriculum by teaching various sessions ranging from the formulation of strategies to successfully competing in Asia. The Center for Aviation Competence of the University of St.Gallen (CFAC-HSG) is dedicated to the needs of the aviation industry combining research insights with education and consulting and offers various executive training modules for aviation managers, accountable managers, safety managers, commanders and auditors.
