Asia Compact: Private Equity in Emerging Markets The 6th edition of Asia Compact: Private Equity took place from 8 to 15 April 2018 Taught by Prof. Dr. Stefan Morkoetter, the course was offered to students of the Master in Banking and Finance (MBF) program and provided a profound introduction to a variety of Private Equity topics, including in-class teaching sessions on buyouts and venture capital investments. The goal of the course was not only to develop an overall understanding of Private Equity as an asset class but also to learn more about Singapore and its importance in the Private Equity sector, being one of the fastest growing financial centres worldwide. The theoretical foundations were complemented by interesting insights by guest lectures from practitioners, such as Credit Suisse and Bain & Company. In addition, during the company visits to Partners Group and IFC, students also had the opportunity to interact and discuss current opportunities and challenges in Private Equity with different topic experts. Besides these theoretical and practical insights into the field of Private Equity, students also explored the history and nature of Singapore by joining a city tour, visiting the Singapore City Gallery as well as attending a BBQ at the East Coast Park. During the farewell dinner at the end of the week, the students together reflected on their key takeaways and learnings during their time in Singapore.
