The course, taught by Prof. Dr. Stefan Morkoetter, introduced the students of the Master in Banking and Finance (MBF) program of the University of St.Gallen to a range of different Private Equity-related topics, with in-class teaching including in-depth sessions on both buyouts and venture capital.
In addition, the course was contextualized against the landscape of emerging economies and particularly focusing on Asia. Special attention was given to the role of Singapore as a regional hub and being one of the fastest growing financial centres worldwide. The course also included a range of different guest lecturers, whom came to class and shared with the students some of their rich interesting experience. Industry experts came from some of the key players operating in the region, such as Credit Suisse, Caldera Pacific and LeapFrog. In addition, a company visit to Partners Group provided students with the opportunity to interact and discuss current opportunities and challenges in Private Equity with different topic experts.
Besides these theoretical and practical insights into the field of Private Equity, students also explored the history and nature of Singapore by joining a city tour, visiting the Singapore City Gallery and attending a BBQ at the East Coast Park. During the farewell dinner at the end of the week, the students together reflected on their key takeaways and learnings during their time in Singapore.
