Asia Compact: Marketing and Sales in Asia 20 Master students from the University of St.Gallen attended the Asia Compact course “Marketing & Sales in Asia”. Hosted by the St.Gallen Institute of Management in Asia, the students explored current trends in marketing and local challenges in Asia, with an aim of understanding Singapore as a fast-growing and highly relevant business location. A highlight of the trip was exclusive insights provided by visits to different multinational companies, including C. Melchers, Luxasia, P&G, Bayer CropScience und Singapore Airlines. Through company visits, lectures by Prof. Dr. Marcus Schögel and selected case studies, students were able to explore highly topical and relevant issues related to marketing strategies in Singapore and Asia. Issues discussed included the trend of ‘pop-up stores’ in Singapore and the reaction of upmarket brands; the use of digital marketing used in local retail; the positioning of Singapore as a potential hub for companies, and marketing strategies of real estate companies. In order to transfer their new learning directly into practice, students had to shoot a short video, answering those questions by searching for real-life examples in Singapore. The next edition of the “Marketing & Sales in Asia” study trip will take place in Spring 2018.
